Oh, and Ryan Gosling, known for his roles in Drive and this SNL skit, was announced as the new TAG Heuer ambassador. All are available now directly from TAG Heuer. The Carrera Day Date references are priced from $2,900, the Twin-Time from $3,200, and the Date from $2,700. Perfect for the career oriented types among us. Overall, these remain quite formal in presentation, with lots of polished surfaces and subdued color schemes. The cases get the new angular lug profile and H link bracelet, that follow the look of the Chronograph models. With the symmetrical dial and smaller case proportions, not to mention the cheaper price points, these are the low-key stars of the show in my book.
These references use the same Caliber 5 automatic movement, which will be a base of either the ETA 2824-2 or Sellita SW200-1. The black dial also receives the same texture as the 41mm model. Moving down to the 39mm Date models, TAG Heuer is offering the same 4 dial colors as the Day Date references, with just a date window placed at 6 o’clock. This watch uses the Caliber 7 based on the ETA 2892-a2, and no, the hour hand is not independently adjustable
Unlike the original, this Twin-Time moves the date aperture to the 6 o’clock position and receives a bi-color rehaut displaying the 24 hour scale for the GMT hand. The new Twin-Time is also offered in the 41mm case size, and comes exclusively with the blue dial. The black dial features a ring texture emanating from its center. A light silver dial joins two black dial options, one of which gets gold hands and hour markers (and day/date frame). The day and date wheels are either white or black, meaning they match the dial color save for the blue dial, which gets the white pairing. This day and date configuration feels a bit old-school to my eye, heightened by their framing. That polished frame matches the dial furniture, in either silver or gold depending on the chosen colorway. The 41mm options will be offered with a day and date complication in-line at 3 o’clock on the dial, presented in a pair of framed apertures.
